Software Engineering Advisor (Data Engineering)

Location: Bloomfield, Connecticut, United States; hybrid work schedule. Occasional or permanent work from home requires cable broadband or fiber internet with at least 10 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Salary: $154,024–$186,100 per year. An alternative anticipated range of $111,700–$186,100 per year is also listed, depending on experience and geographic location. Eligible for an annual bonus plan.

What you will do

• Design, build, and optimize scalable batch and streaming data pipelines using Python, SQL, Spark, Databricks, and Teradata Vantage.
• Implement AWS cloud data platforms and governed lakehouse storage using S3, Glue, EC2, IAM, VPC, Lake Formation, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Hudi.
• Build reusable automation libraries, infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, testing workflows, and release orchestration with Python, Terraform, Jenkins, CloudBees, Ansible, Groovy, and Shell.
• Apply data governance, privacy, masking, tokenization, observability, monitoring, incident response, and compliant environment refresh processes.
• Publish curated datasets and semantic layers for Tableau and Looker, while automating reporting workflows and improving data quality.
• Prototype and productionize GenAI-enabled data and automation solutions using prompt engineering, AWS Bedrock, Copilot, Cursor, and MCP servers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of software engineering experience in the healthcare domain.
• Experience designing large-scale data pipelines with Python and Apache Spark, including batch processing, scheduling, validation, quality checks, and failure handling.
• Experience with AWS data and compute services, Teradata Vantage, Oracle, REST APIs, Kafka, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, and Apache Hudi.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and CloudBees, including automated testing, quality gates, versioning, and controlled releases.
• Experience with data protection, masking, tokenization, Terraform-based infrastructure automation, and regulated enterprise environments.
• End-to-end SDLC ownership in Agile/Scrum environments, including requirements analysis, solution design, code reviews, testing, and production support.
