Product Development Intern (Optics and System Integration)

Location: Munich, Germany; onsite in the lab

This is a full-time, 6-month internship starting as soon as possible.

hirify.global is a deep-tech spin-off of TU Munich developing quantum sensing technology for semiconductor chip failure analysis and yield analysis.

What you will do

• Support the assembly, alignment, and characterization of optical and optomechanical setups for the Quantum Diamond Microscope.
• Help build and test cooling systems in the laboratory.
• Perform interferometric and thermal measurements using laboratory equipment.
• Complete basic electronics work, including soldering and cabling.
• Create and maintain assembly procedures, alignment protocols, and test reports.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Quantum Science, Engineering Physics, Photonics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with optical or optomechanical setups through coursework, projects, or a thesis.
• Basic electronics knowledge and initial experience with measurement equipment and soldering.
• Careful, structured working style with an interest in thorough technical documentation.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn in a fast-moving, hands-on environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with interferometry or cooling systems.
• Knowledge of quantum optics.
• Initial experience with Zemax or SolidWorks.
