Director, Legal, Infrastructure, EMEA (AI infrastructure): Leading end-to-end infrastructure contracting for EMEA data centre campuses, covering construction, equipment supply, power, real estate, and operations with an accent on major EPC/EPCM agreements, risk allocation, and multi-jurisdictional execution. Focus on negotiating high-value contracts, managing claims and closeout, coordinating external counsel, and supporting hyperscale AI infrastructure delivery.

Location: London, UK

Company

Nscale is building a vertically integrated GenAI cloud platform spanning data centres, software, and applications for the AI stack.

What you will do

  • Lead negotiations for owner-contractor, EPC, EPCM, design-and-build, consultancy, equipment supply, and O&M agreements for EMEA data centre campuses.
  • Support site acquisitions, development arrangements, ground leases, power procurement, utilities, interconnection, and power purchase arrangements.
  • Maintain infrastructure contract templates and playbooks using JCT, NEC, FIDIC, and bespoke contracting structures.
  • Manage contracts through delivery and closeout, including change orders, claims, payment and retention issues, defects, and dispute avoidance.
  • Coordinate insurance, bonding, lender requirements, and project-finance legal matters.
  • Manage EMEA outside counsel and partner with construction, procurement, finance, real estate, energy, and operations teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of post-qualification experience in construction and infrastructure law, gained in-house or at a top-tier law firm.
  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales or another relevant EMEA jurisdiction; England and Wales qualification is strongly preferred.
  • Track record negotiating major construction, EPC/EPCM, design-and-build, professional services, and equipment supply agreements for large-scale or mission-critical projects.
  • Experience across multiple EMEA jurisdictions and in managing local counsel.
  • Strong knowledge of construction risk allocation, including pricing, delay remedies, warranties, defects, indemnities, insurance, liability caps, and dispute resolution.
  • Confident first-chair negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-value contracts and explain complex risks to non-lawyers and senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience with a hyperscaler, colocation provider, data centre developer, major contractor, or infrastructure investor.
  • Energy and power project experience, including equipment supply, O&M, utility, interconnection, or power purchase arrangements.
  • Experience with JCT, NEC, or FIDIC forms.
  • Construction claims and dispute-resolution experience.
  • Additional European language skills.

Culture & Benefits

  • Culture centered on innovation, ownership, accountability, openness, and transparency.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with construction, procurement, finance, real estate, energy, and operations teams.
  • Opportunity to support the development of large-scale AI infrastructure and hyperscale data centre projects across EMEA.
