Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: 805 SE Moberly Ln., Bentonville, Arkansas, United States; in-person work at Walmart campuses

Salary: $90,000–$180,000 per year, plus performance bonuses and possible stock compensation

What you will do

• Own feature and service delivery across the enterprise communications platform, from implementation and testing through deployment and operational support.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications for targeted, multi-channel communications.
• Build and integrate AI/ML-powered capabilities that improve personalization, communication effectiveness, and user experience.
• Develop secure and reliable code using automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and modern engineering practices.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to convert requirements into technical solutions and measurable outcomes.
• Contribute to technical leadership through code reviews, performance optimization, mentoring, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Java, Python, or similar object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience designing, building, and supporting scalable distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native applications at enterprise scale.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, and operational support.
• Experience building secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies, generative AI tools, or intelligent application development.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 3 years of software engineering experience, or 5 years of software engineering experience.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
