Java Engineer (Fintech): Building and supporting reliable, scalable Java applications and RESTful microservices for Wholesale Lending with an accent on secure, cloud-native engineering and distributed systems. Focus on designing resilient business-critical solutions, deploying applications across their lifecycle, and solving complex banking technology challenges through Agile and DevOps practices.
Location: Manila, Philippines (One Ayala Tower 2)

Philippines provides technology solutions for ING’s international Wholesale Banking business, with operations across approximately 40 countries and a global engineering community.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and enhance business-critical applications for Wholesale Lending.
- Build scalable, secure, and resilient Java-based solutions.
- Develop and maintain RESTful microservices using modern engineering practices.
- Support application delivery and deployment throughout the software lifecycle.
- Research and propose innovative technologies and solutions.
- Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, and international teams while contributing to Agile and DevOps practices.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Java 8; knowledge of Java 11+ is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Batch, REST API development, and Hibernate.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, microservices architecture, scalability, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Docker, OpenShift, and containerized environments.
- Knowledge of Jenkins, Artifactory, Git, TFS, or Azure DevOps.
- Experience in Agile and DevOps environments, with scripting skills in Bash or Python.
Nice to have
- Experience with ING technologies such as Merak, Touchpoint, and Kafka.
- Knowledge of Java 11 or newer.
