Backend Software Engineer (Legal Tech)

Location: Toronto (hybrid) or San Francisco

Salary: Toronto CAD 152,660–214,475 per year; equity offered.

What you will do

• Own software projects across the full lifecycle, from conception and development through deployment and iteration.
• Architect and develop software integrations and interfaces for the Cases product.
• Design and improve dependable integration frameworks for third-party vendors.
• Gather stakeholder requirements and translate them into technical designs and solutions.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, product owners, and designers.
• Optimize application performance and responsiveness.

Requirements

• More than 3 years of relevant experience developing applications and services.
• Experience integrating third-party vendors and building integration frameworks.
• Strong RESTful API design and development skills.
• Knowledge of software fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, SOAP, REST, GraphQL, and SQL.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and provide mentorship to fellow engineers.

Nice to have

• Experience with React and TypeScript.
• Experience in AI, legal tech, or social impact projects.
