Engineer II, Mechanical - Sensors (Medical Devices)

Location: On-site in Irvine, California, United States

Annual salary: $90,000–$115,000, plus eligibility for 10% annual base salary bonus/incentive pay.

What you will do

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and packaging for disposable and reusable patient monitoring sensors.
• Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and manufacturing documentation.
• Apply design for manufacturability and assembly, tolerance analysis, and other engineering methods to optimize performance, quality, cost, and high-volume production.
• Develop and execute mechanical test plans for design verification, validation, reliability, environmental, and performance testing.
• Build prototypes and evaluate design concepts through testing, analysis, and iterative development.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or a related field, preferably with electromechanical or high-volume manufactured products.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and engineering drawings; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of mechanical design principles, tolerance analysis, material selection, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Experience designing plastic, metal, elastomeric, adhesive, or other mechanical components and assemblies.

Nice to have

• Experience designing medical device sensors, accessories, or patient monitoring products.
• Experience with high-volume product design, plastic injection molding, and automated assembly processes.
• Knowledge of medical device design controls and FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, UL, ASTM, ISTA, or related standards.
• Experience with biomedical materials, adhesives, flexible materials, woven components, or laminate materials.
