TL;DR

Location: Onsite in Alameda, CA; Albuquerque, NM; or Oak Ridge, TN. Business travel of 25–35% is required, along with occasional schedule flexibility and extended hours during launch and critical project timelines.

Salary: $122,000–$144,000 annually for employees working onsite at the Alameda, California headquarters. Actual compensation depends on education, experience, skills, and market data.

What you will do

  • Develop licensing document content, regulatory programs, and supporting materials for reactor instrumentation, control, protection, sensor, and electrical power systems.
  • Support planning, development, and defense of license applications and participate in pre-application interactions with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
  • Develop licensing strategies and lead resolution of strategic issues such as reactor protection system design and sensor qualification.
  • Coordinate with engineering, safety analysis, and technology development teams on safety analysis documentation and regulatory testing programs.
  • Translate top-level regulatory requirements into clear, traceable design, testing, and program requirements.
  • Support project and engineering execution plans, including schedules, milestones, cost models, and decision criteria.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nuclear, electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in facility or system engineering design, analysis, construction, qualification, or implementation.
  • Experience in instrumentation and controls and electrical engineering is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of plant protection and control design, including the analysis, design, and implementation of engineering solutions.
  • Ability to interpret technical and regulatory requirements, analyze complex issues, and develop practical resolutions.
  • Ability to work onsite at one of the listed US locations, work in office and outdoor environments, use PPE, navigate industrial structures, and lift or move objects up to 40 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing Preliminary or Final Safety Analysis Reports, including licensing considerations for structures, systems, and components.
  • Prior nuclear licensing experience.
