Agentic AI Scientific and Technology Leader (Drug Discovery)

Location: Hybrid position based at the San Diego headquarters, United States

Compensation: $208,000–$260,000 for Principal, $232,000–$290,000 for Associate Director, or $252,000–$315,000 for Director, annually.

What you will do

• Lead the technical roadmap and execution of agentic AI workflows for small-molecule discovery and external research collaborations.
• Design and deploy multi-step agentic systems integrating ML-based molecular design with hypothesis generation, compound prioritization, and experimental triage.
• Co-lead the hirify.global Lab of the Future by integrating AI molecular design, high-throughput experimentation, automated data generation, and real-time data acquisition.
• Partner with computational, experimental, and data engineering teams to ensure scientific grounding, technical robustness, and operational adoption.
• Represent AI-driven discovery capabilities at conferences, partnership discussions, and academic collaborations.
• Develop and mentor a high-performing agentic AI team while aligning strategy with platform, pipeline, and business objectives.

Requirements

• PhD in computational chemistry, machine learning, structural biology, chemical biology, or a closely related discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of experience in drug discovery, ML, or platform-building environments.
• Expertise designing and deploying AI/ML workflows, preferably in drug discovery or life sciences.
• Deep familiarity with small-molecule discovery, structure-based design, ADMET, and multi-parameter optimization.
• Hands-on experience applying ML models to structure prediction, generative chemistry, or property prediction in real discovery programs.
• Experience leading cross-functional scientific teams and working with external research collaborations or partnerships.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM-based agents and workflow orchestration frameworks.
• Experience integrating ML models into laboratory automation pipelines.
