Financial and Planning Analyst

Location: Hybrid position in New Jersey, United States; occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or business initiatives.

Salary: $80,000–$95,000 per year.

What you will do

• Analyze historical and current financial data to evaluate performance, trends, and business drivers.
• Monitor actual results against budgets and forecasts, explain variances, and identify opportunities or risks.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting, including data collection, validation, and consolidation.
• Build, maintain, and improve financial models, dashboards, recurring reports, and management presentations.
• Develop and monitor KPIs, operational metrics, financial benchmarks, and operating and capital expenditure reports.
• Extract, validate, and transform data while partnering with Finance, Operations, Claims, Distribution, and other stakeholders on planning, analysis, automation, and process improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of financial analysis experience preferred; strong entry-level candidates will be considered.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles.
• Experience analyzing financial statements, KPIs, business performance drivers, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, including financial modeling and presentation development.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage large datasets and multiple deadlines.

Nice to have

• Progress toward a CPA, CFA, or advanced degree.
• Property and casualty insurance industry experience.
• Experience with Workday, Adaptive Planning, or other financial planning systems.
• Experience supporting state expansion or regulatory initiatives in insurance.
