Reserving Actuary (Insurance): Developing and coordinating reserving, financial reporting, and risk management practices for Markel International with an accent on technical reserving methods, governance, and stakeholder engagement. Location: London, UK; hybrid working with at least two days per week in the London office. The role supports colleagues across global locations and includes travel for office visits and conferences.

What you will do
- Support the efficient delivery of the International reserving function and ensure reserving and financial reporting activities are completed accurately and on time.
- Develop technical reserving approaches and contribute to new tools, techniques, and operating methods with global actuarial teams.
- Build effective relationships with group actuarial, finance, executive, audit, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Lead reserving team members and provide coaching and training to the wider actuarial team.
- Contribute to global actuarial projects and support the wider International Actuarial team.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in actuarial reserving, including the ability to address complex reserving issues and develop bespoke tools.
- Ability to manage and engage actuarial teams so that reserving and parameterisation exercises meet quality and deadline requirements.
- Experience improving reserving processes, governance, and required deliverables.
- Ability to prioritise individual and team workloads and manage internal and external deadlines.
- Recognised knowledge of reserving methods, techniques, and requirements, with awareness of emerging market trends and tools.
- Availability to work from the London office at least two days per week.
