Product Compliance Manager (Payments)

Location: Remote, Bay Area, California, United States

Salary: $171,800–$257,600 USD annually for Zone A locations; other U.S. zones range from $142,600–$213,800.

What you will do

• Advise Square Core and Audiences product teams on compliance requirements for new products, features, and market expansions.
• Lead product compliance reviews, identify gaps early, and manage remediation plans.
• Maintain compliance risk and control inventories, risk assessments, and control effectiveness evaluations.
• Drive issues management, testing and monitoring, policy development, complaints management, and compliance metrics reporting.
• Support regulatory examinations and audits by coordinating responses, gathering evidence, and remediating findings.
• Monitor regulatory changes and translate legal requirements into practical product controls.

Requirements

• 8+ years of compliance industry experience, including payments, merchant acquiring, or commerce platform compliance.
• Strong knowledge of AML/BSA, Payment Card and Network rules, Consumer Protection, Privacy, and electronic marketing and communications regulations.
• Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams in agile environments.
• Experience with risk assessments, issues management, testing and monitoring, regulatory exam support, and regulatory change management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to collaborate across Compliance, Legal, Product, Engineering, Design, Risk, and International teams using a metrics-driven approach.
