Security Engineer (17-Month Contract)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Base salary: C$87,500–C$108,300 per year, with potential eligibility for variable compensation.

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, monitor, and improve security technologies including SIEM, EDR, DLP, WAF, CASB, secure web gateways, email security, and vulnerability scanning tools.
• Investigate and triage security events across endpoint, cloud, network, application, and email environments.
• Support incident response, root-cause analysis, vulnerability prioritization, penetration-testing validation, and zero-day response.
• Integrate SAST, DAST, SCA, and external attack surface management into CI/CD workflows.
• Conduct security risk assessments and STRIDE-based threat modeling for products, vendors, internal initiatives, and AI-enabled applications.
• Partner with Engineering, Cloud Operations, IT, and business teams to improve controls, automation, and remediation processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in information security, security engineering, or security operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science, computer engineering, technology management, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least one relevant certification, such as CISSP, CISA, or CCSP.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR, WAF, DLP, vulnerability scanning platforms, and public cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or IBM Cloud.
• Knowledge of operating system, network, application, database, and cloud security, plus NIST CSF and ISO 27001/27002.
• Professional proficiency in English and availability for the Toronto, Canada location.

Nice to have

• Security automation or scripting with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Experience with OneTrust, STRIDE threat modeling, and security risk assessments.
• Experience integrating security scanning, alerting, ticketing, or security gates into CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to AI security, Agentic AI risks, or AI red-team testing.
