Senior Product Security Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States; minimum 4 days per week onsite

Salary: $132,000–$198,000 per year

What you will do

• Integrate cybersecurity requirements into the medical device development lifecycle from design through deployment.
• Conduct threat modeling and vulnerability assessments, then prioritize and help mitigate product security risks.
• Support secure medical device architecture, including secure boot, secure communications, data protection, software updates, system integration protections, and access controls.
• Apply NIST, OWASP, and IEC 81001-5-1 guidance in collaboration with engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor colleagues, and contribute to long-term product security strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with at least 2 years, or a PhD with no required experience.
• Experience with embedded device security, preferably in a regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, NIST, OWASP, secure software development, and security-by-design practices.
• Experience identifying and addressing product security risks with engineering teams.
• Familiarity with medical device standards and guidance, including IEC 81001-5-1, ISO 14971, and FDA cybersecurity guidance.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required; sponsorship is not available for roles below Principal level.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting FDA and other regulatory cybersecurity submissions.
• Experience with connected healthcare systems or cloud-connected medical devices.
• Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP.
