Project Engineer II (Aerospace & Defense)

Location: Lone Tree, Colorado, United States; primarily office or hybrid

Estimated starting salary: $165,010.21–$226,889.04 per year

Develops aerospace, aviation, ISR, and national security technologies, including manned and unmanned aircraft systems and end-to-end C4ISR capabilities.

What you will do

• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, and mitigation strategies.
• Provide technical oversight and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Manage requirements, system design, integration, and project execution across the product lifecycle.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for external customers and specialized vendors.
• Prepare status reports, assess progress and risks, and resolve project issues.
• Identify process improvements and implement project management best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, requirements management, system design, and integration.
• Experience with multidisciplinary design and development teams, simulation and training, and flight or ISR mission system implementations.
• Ability to manage specialized vendors and communicate with customers and program management.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice to have

• 4–6 years of relevant leadership or project management experience.
• Experience with advanced project management tools, methodologies, estimates, proposals, and cost and schedule management.
• Experience leading complex baseline definition, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives.
• INCOSE experience or certification and familiarity with aerospace and defense industry standards.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications, and test procedures.
