Location: Nairobi, Kenya; candidates must be nationals or residents of Kenya, the UK, or Geneva, or be hosted in another country with an IRC office. Up to 40% international travel may be required, including to areas affected by armed conflict.
Compensation: CHF 100,000–115,000 per year in Switzerland; GBP 60,000–66,000 per year in the UK.

What you will do
- Develop humanitarian access, acceptance, and engagement strategies for emergency programs in complex and volatile environments.
- Support country leadership and frontline teams with crisis analysis, scenario planning, risk mitigation, incident management, and remote management approaches.
- Strengthen safety and security preparedness, contingency planning, and alignment with Security Minimum Standards and Duty of Care principles.
- Design and deliver training, coaching, mentoring, humanitarian negotiation, READI, and context-analysis activities for IRC teams and partners.
- Develop humanitarian access frameworks, technical resources, guidance, and knowledge-management systems with consortium partners.
- Build relationships with authorities, power brokers, security actors, community stakeholders, and humanitarian organizations.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of experience in international humanitarian assistance, NGO programs, and safety and security management in complex and volatile environments.
- Significant practical experience in humanitarian access, humanitarian negotiation, civil-military coordination, security management, or related areas.
- Experience facilitating learning and developing tools, guidance, and training materials for diverse audiences and practitioners.
- Advanced skills in humanitarian negotiation, humanitarian-military relations, and/or engagement with armed groups.
- Strong analytical, communication, diplomatic, relationship-building, facilitation, training, and coaching skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and French is required.

- Arabic or Spanish language skills.
- Experience working with women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other groups at risk of exclusion.
