Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Annual salary: CAD $175,500–$214,500; typical starting salary for fully ready candidates is CAD $195,000.

What you will do

• Lead architecture and the highest-risk technical work across interconnected systems.
• Set practical standards for quality, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Own ambiguous, cross-team initiatives from problem definition through measurable outcomes.
• Connect technical decisions with customer needs, business priorities, cost, and risk.
• Improve engineering delivery through practices, tooling, documentation, and operational guardrails.
• Coach engineers and delegate meaningful ownership to develop future technical leaders.

Requirements

• Experience leading architecture for complex, interconnected systems and owning high-risk technical decisions.
• Experience driving cross-team initiatives from ambiguous problems to measurable results.
• Ability to influence teams and stakeholders without formal authority.
• Experience creating standards, tooling, or processes that improve engineering delivery and operations.
• Ability to coach engineers, delegate ownership, and work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
• Willingness to work in the stated hybrid Toronto location.

Nice to have

• Startup or high-growth technology company experience.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Node.js.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and continuous deployment pipelines.
• Experience in fintech, banking, or other regulated environments.
