Principal Presales Engineer

Location: Remote within the United States; not eligible for hiring in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Pennsylvania, or the surrounding areas of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. Approximately 25% travel is expected for customer meetings, team gatherings, and off-sites.

Salary: $138,872–$192,880 per year, depending on location. The role may also include commissions and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Partner with Account Executives on opportunity qualification, product demonstrations, proofs of concept, RFPs, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
• Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer communications needs and challenges.
• Design technical architectures and guide customers toward effective Twilio solutions.
• Build and present complex product demonstrations and presentations for Twilio Communications Products.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor and support medium to large opportunities.
• Share knowledge across the Solutions Engineering organization and create reusable demonstration and presentation materials.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in solutions engineering or presales selling complex technical products, or 10+ years supporting technical products with customer-facing delivery or consulting experience.
• Excellent communication, presentation, storytelling, time management, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to understand customer communications needs and develop innovative technical solutions.
• Previous software development experience with backend technologies such as Java, C#, Node, Python, or PHP; web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, Vue, or Angular; or REST APIs.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Must be eligible to work remotely from an allowed location in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience with new business accounts and evangelizing new use cases or technologies.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and cloud application architecture.
• Experience in telecom, SIP, contact center, or security.
• Experience with sales methodologies.
