Sr AI Runtime Architect (Neuromorphic Computing)

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon or Santa Clara, California, United States. Hybrid work model with time split between an assigned Intel site and off-site work.

Annual salary: $195,200–$315,490 USD.

What you will do

• Define the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for a neuromorphic AI runtime stack spanning firmware, drivers, and framework integration.
• Architect and implement runtime systems and performance tooling for host-attached and standalone devices.
• Own runtime-to-compiler contracts and integrations with industry-standard AI and robotics frameworks.
• Ensure measurable performance, deterministic real-time behavior, and production quality across silicon and simulators.
• Collaborate with compiler, hardware, application, customer, and partner teams to translate workloads into runtime capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership through engineering practices, mentoring, and cross-functional delivery.

Requirements

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years developing and shipping AI runtime software for accelerators, GPUs, or comparable complex hardware, with knowledge of drivers and firmware.
• 5+ years leading complex software architecture, technical direction, performance ownership, and production-quality accelerator software.
• 5+ years providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and leading cross-functional delivery.
• 10+ years developing production-grade systems software in C/C++, with proficiency in Python and experience with code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• 1+ years using AI agents to design, implement, test, and review production code.

Nice to have

• Experience managing engineering teams, including hiring and developing engineers.
• Experience with OpenVINO, oneAPI Level Zero, spatial or dataflow accelerators, and compiler-determined scheduling.
• Experience with robotics or real-time systems, including ROS 2 or Holoscan.
• Experience with functional or performance simulators, embedded Linux or RTOS-based systems, and HW/SW co-design.
