Foreign Language Medical Translator (Chinese)

What you will do

• Translate hospital documents from English into Chinese, including medical record forms, patient education materials, and marketing materials.
• Review, proofread, and edit translations for accuracy and consistency.
• Apply medical terminology in both the source and target languages.
• Use computer-assisted translation tools, glossaries, and translation memories.
• Deliver completed translations while following coordinator instructions and professional translation standards.

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency in English and Chinese is required.
• Training or certification in foreign language translation.
• Two years of experience translating, proofreading, and editing medical materials from English into Chinese.
• Two years of experience in a medical setting, customer service, advocacy, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, computer-assisted translation programs such as SDL Trados, glossaries, and translation memories.
• High school diploma, along with strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

• Previous translation experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Native Chinese speaker status.
• ATA certification or equivalent.
• Proficiency in a third language.
• Bachelor’s, master’s, or other higher education degree.
