Spanish Translator/Reviser

Location: Washington, DC; on-site position with occasional flexibility for teleworking

What you will do

• Translate documents from English, French, and/or Portuguese into Spanish and revise translations for accuracy, clarity, cultural relevance, and stylistic quality.
• Research complex terminology and contribute to terminology files, style guides, and language standards.
• Promote the effective use of language technologies and support the Translation and Documentation Section’s workflows.
• Coordinate workloads with colleagues and collaborate with freelance translators, providing technical guidance and feedback.
• Prepare and grade assessments, onboard translators, mentor junior staff, and advise hirify.global staff on language and terminology.
• Lead data collection and analysis for planning, decision-making, presentations, and reporting, and support the Section Chief on special projects.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or equivalent advanced degree, preferably in translation.
• At least four years of full-time translation experience and at least three years revising translations produced by others; seven years of translation experience is preferred.
• Native written Spanish and excellent, in-depth English are required, together with at least one of French or Portuguese.
• Experience using relevant language technologies is required.
• Ability to work independently with limited oversight and complete a linguistic and technical assessment.
• Citizenship of one of the hirify.global’s 48 member countries is required.

Nice to have

• Professional knowledge of finance, economics, international development, or law.
• Experience in an international organization or similar setting.
• Knowledge of both French and Portuguese.
