Substitute Language Translator - English/Spanish

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States. On-call, part-time temporary position; assessments and interviews may take place virtually or on site.

What you will do

• Provide oral translation between English and Spanish.
• Translate correspondence and other written documents.
• Interpret meetings, conferences, and other events.
• Provide written and simultaneous oral translation for County Office of Education meetings and programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or Spanish; or an associate degree with a Translating/Interpreting certificate; or qualifying enrollment with 48 college semester units and a Translating/Interpreting certificate.
• At least one year of experience translating and interpreting between English and Spanish.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish is required, along with passing written and oral Spanish proficiency examinations.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license.
• Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved agency before the written examination when education was completed outside the United States.
