TL;DR
Mission Systems Engineer (MBSE): Developing and maintaining integrated mission and system models for complex GEOINT and space-based sensor architectures with an accent on requirements traceability, SysML/UML/UAF modeling, and digital engineering. Focus on connecting mission architectures to physical implementations, supporting verification and validation, simulations, digital twins, and system integration.

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; no remote or telework allowed

Projected compensation range: $96,909.64–$168,507.06 annually

What you will do

  • Assess engineering artifacts and translate requirements, architectures, interfaces, operational concepts, and verification criteria into integrated MBSE models.
  • Develop and maintain mission and system models, requirements traces, architecture views, functional views, sequence diagrams, and interface models using Cameo and related tools.
  • Apply SysML, UAF, UML, and other modeling frameworks across requirements engineering, architecture, design, verification, validation, testing, and system integration.
  • Support data modeling, data ingestion, model queries, data structures, test automation, simulations, analysis, and digital twin capabilities.
  • Analyze system performance, reliability, interfaces, and stability across test and operational environments.
  • Collaborate with engineers, developers, program personnel, SETA/FFRDC partners, and government stakeholders to develop technical solutions and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and the ability to meet customer crossover requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer science, programming, or a related technical discipline with 5–7 years of relevant experience; equivalent paths include a master’s degree with 3–5 years or a PhD with 0–2 years.
  • Demonstrated experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering and systems engineering lifecycle processes.
  • Experience with SysML, UML, UAF, or comparable modeling languages and frameworks.
  • Experience with GEOINT space-based sensors, payloads, products, data, GIS, or related GEOINT mission environments.
  • Strong technical communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
