TL;DR
Data Analysis and Engineer (AUV): Building data pipelines and statistical analysis tooling that transform autonomous underwater vehicle mission logs into actionable insights, with an accent on sensor time alignment, navigation error characterization, and vehicle performance. Focus on designing reproducible analytics, monitoring data quality, and supporting rapid field-test analysis across complex asynchronous sensor data.

Location: Bristol, RI, United States. Candidates must be United States Citizens or Permanent Residents and able to gain a security clearance.

Company

hirify.global is a startup designing and manufacturing autonomous underwater vehicles for underwater security, exploration, research, and operations.

What you will do

  • Design and maintain data pipelines that ingest vehicle and field-kit mission logs into durable, queryable storage.
  • Develop statistical analysis tooling in Python and Matlab for post-mission reconstruction, sensor time alignment, coordinate-frame handling, and navigation error analysis.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and quantitative performance metrics for engineers, leadership, and customers.
  • Define data schemas, naming conventions, and metadata standards to make test data discoverable and traceable.
  • Support field-test campaigns with rapid analysis, anomaly detection, automated data-quality checks, and monitoring.
  • Produce reproducible analysis products, documentation, and tests for customer deliverables, test reports, and design reviews.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional experience in data engineering, statistical analysis, or a comparable role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Matlab, and/or R data ecosystems, plus strong SQL skills.
  • Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, large sensor or log datasets, relational or time-series schemas, statistical methods, and data visualization.
  • Experience building dashboards or visualization tools and working with asynchronous time-series data, timestamp alignment, and resampling.
  • Proficiency with Git, strong problem-solving and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. United States Citizenship or Permanent Residency and eligibility to gain a security clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Robotics data formats and middleware such as ROS 2, rosbag/MCAP, DDS, or Protobuf.
  • Machine learning for time-series or navigational data and experience with columnar or time-series storage engines.
  • Geospatial data, coordinate systems, signal processing, navigation, and state-estimation experience.
  • Cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, Docker, and CI/CD experience.
  • Experience with maritime sensors, underwater acoustics, subsea systems, startups, or defense companies.
  • Willingness to participate in on-water testing and field operations.

Culture & Benefits

  • Work on autonomous underwater vehicles used for security, exploration, research, and operations.
  • Collaborate across engineering, leadership, customer, and field-test activities.
  • Contribute to a growing startup developing next-generation underwater autonomy.
  • Participate in practical on-water testing and field operations as needed.
