VDC Manager, Mechanical & Plumbing

Location: Remote within the United States; US work authorization required. Conditions: Chicago, Illinois, USA. Coordination may require some early or late hours with project teams in other countries.

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end BIM/VDC execution for multiple mechanical and plumbing projects from early design through construction and field delivery.
• Ensure models are coordinated, constructible, and aligned with construction sequencing.
• Build, mentor, and scale a VDC team delivering consistent quality across concurrent projects and time zones.
• Advise clients and trade contractors, using BIM insights to resolve issues and improve project outcomes.
• Advance BIM/VDC standards, training, workflows, and best practices.
• Pilot digital and AI-enabled approaches that improve efficiency and quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a similar discipline.
• 5+ years of BIM/VDC implementation, training, and support experience with a mechanical or plumbing trade contractor.
• Experience managing 2–3 detailers and leading distributed project teams.
• Experience coordinating BIM updates, running clash detection, modeling, drafting, producing drawings, and reading mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with AutoCAD MEP and/or Fabrication CADMEP, plus online meetings and training across remote teams.
