Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Motion Systems

Location: Horsham, Pennsylvania, United States; travel to customer sites and supplier facilities may be required for up to 10% of the time.

Salary: $114,000–$167,000 per year, plus bonus opportunity.

What you will do

• Lead mechanical design and development projects for wet processing technologies and engineered-to-order equipment.
• Design equipment systems, subassemblies, and components with a focus on quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Perform structural, thermal, fluid, heat transfer, vessel, static, dynamic, and motion mechanism analyses.
• Define design specifications, develop prototypes, test plans, and design-of-experiments, and support troubleshooting.
• Prepare technical presentations, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, customers, and program management.
• Create engineering documentation through the ECO process and support procurement and product lifecycle phase gates.

Requirements

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience, or MS in Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 years of experience.
• Experience designing or manufacturing capital equipment, subassemblies, and components.
• Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD or similar 3D CAD systems, plus SAP or a similar PLM system.
• Experience with structural and thermal finite element analysis, prototyping, devices, and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills, including specification development and technical presentations.
• Ability to work onsite in Horsham, Pennsylvania, with up to 10% travel to customer and supplier facilities.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of industrial control systems, sensors, automation, robotics, instrumentation, motion control, motor selection, encoders, electronic packaging, or SEMI standards.
• Project management experience.
