Senior Software Engineer (Voyager)

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid work format with an in-person leadership interview

Annual salary: $144,000–$176,000 CAD; typical starting salary is $160,000 CAD for candidates fully ready for the role scope.

What you will do

• Build and deploy secure, reusable LLM systems that support differentiated banking product experiences.
• Own AI infrastructure across design, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.
• Lead research and proof-of-concept initiatives for emerging technologies and provide adoption recommendations.
• Create tooling, reusable patterns, and guidance that help engineering teams deliver AI workflows safely and quickly.
• Partner with product teams as an AI technical advisor and influence technical direction and long-term strategy.

Requirements

• 3+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.
• Experience leading significant components or features with minimal oversight.
• Strong judgment when moving between exploratory prototypes and production-ready systems.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and driving improvements in code quality, performance, and development processes.
• Strong collaboration, ownership, problem-solving, and ability to work effectively in ambiguity and change.
• Working knowledge of the listed TypeScript, React, Node.js, AWS, and infrastructure technologies is relevant to the role.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, including self-hosting or serving open models, retrieval systems, evaluation, or agentic workflows.
• Startup or high-growth technology company experience.
• Experience building platform or shared services for engineering teams.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
• Working knowledge of AWS services and continuous deployment pipelines.
