Principal Software Engineer (Location Services)

What you will do

• Own and evolve the architecture of Location Services and core geospatial capabilities.
• Lead system design for scalable, low-latency, highly available location-based services.
• Define standards for geospatial data modeling, querying, processing, accuracy, and quality.
• Guide complex technical initiatives across multiple services and domains.
• Drive observability, resilience, fault tolerance, automation, testing, and reliability improvements.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and influence technical strategy across teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with senior technical leadership.
• Deep experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in spatial data models, indexing, geospatial queries, transformations, projections, and location data quality.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages, such as Java, C++, or Python.
• Experience with cloud-native services, data storage technologies, and relational, NoSQL, time-series, or geospatial databases.
• Ability to influence technical direction across teams and communicate complex trade-offs clearly.

Nice to have

• Production ownership of location-based or geospatial platforms.
• Experience with real-time or near-real-time location processing pipelines.
• Familiarity with geospatial tooling and standards.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, reliability engineering, performance tuning, and scalability testing.
