TL;DR
Controls Engineer, Level 4 (Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing): Supporting and improving manufacturing automation, instrumentation, and control systems for the production of life-changing therapies with an accent on reliable, compliant operations and technology transfer. Focus on leading complex automation upgrades, troubleshooting manufacturing systems, executing CAPA and change controls, and mentoring engineering teams.

Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire, United States; fully site-based role

What you will do

  • Provide technical support for manufacturing automation and instrumentation systems to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Lead automation projects involving complex equipment upgrades, process improvements, and technology transfer activities.
  • Serve as Controls Lead for technology transfers and process implementation projects.
  • Troubleshoot automation systems, analyze process data, and resolve manufacturing equipment issues.
  • Develop automation standards and best practices with Global Engineering and site teams.
  • Own CAPA actions, change controls, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical mentoring for junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or industrial automation environments.
  • Advanced expertise with one or more automation and control systems.
  • Experience serving as a Controls Lead for technology transfers and manufacturing projects.
  • Project management, leadership, mentoring, troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a cGMP manufacturing environment.

  • Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
