Senior Backend Engineer (C#/.NET): Building and operating distributed, event-driven microservices on Azure for fintech products serving millions of customers across Africa with an accent on scalability, observability, and AI-native engineering. Focus on designing resilient services with idempotency, retries, out-of-order event handling, production ownership, and Kubernetes-based operations.
Location: Remote from Nairobi, Accra, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Kampala, or Lagos; collaboration during core GMT working hours.

What you will do
- Build and operate distributed C# and .NET microservices on Azure and Kubernetes.
- Develop event-driven services supporting products used at significant scale.
- Own services end to end, from design and implementation through deployment, production operation, and iteration.
- Design for idempotency, retries, out-of-order events, and failure modes.
- Use observability tools, production data, and incidents to improve service reliability.
- Collaborate with distributed engineering teams and contribute to an AI-native development workflow.
Requirements
- Strong C# and .NET development experience.
- Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies such as Azure Service Bus, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with microservices architecture, preferably on Azure and Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability tools such as Grafana and Azure Application Insights.
- Comfort using AI tools for design, code review, testing, incident investigation, and technical communication.
- DevOps mindset, including on-call participation, production ownership, autonomous work, and collaboration across time zones.
