Grid Manager (Battery Storage)

What you will do

• Manage end-to-end grid connection activities for the UK battery energy storage system portfolio, including applications, Grid Connection Offers, technical studies, and connection agreements.
• Provide grid expertise during BESS development by analysing connection options, costs, programme impacts, reinforcement schemes, curtailment studies, and commercial implications.
• Coordinate grid integration during construction, reviewing electrical designs, grid compliance studies, test results, power system models, and consultant deliverables.
• Manage interfaces with DNOs, Transmission Owners, NGESO, Ofgem, contractors, suppliers, technical consultants, and internal development, construction, and procurement teams.
• Monitor grid connection reforms, transmission planning methodologies, and strategic frameworks, including REMA, tCSNP, SSEP, FES, and CP2030.
• Support offshore wind partners and joint ventures with grid connection processes, due diligence, stakeholder engagement, governance, cost control, and risk management.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years of experience in the power generation, distribution, or transmission industry.
• Experience completing grid connection and compliance activities for renewable energy assets and managing UK DNO connections.
• In-depth knowledge of BESS and renewable energy grid connection processes at distribution and transmission voltages.
• Experience with power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, harmonic, flicker, insulation coordination, and G99/Grid Code compliance studies using RMS and EMT tools.
• Advanced project management, negotiation, contract administration, legal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
