Data Center Engineer

Location: Hong Kong or Singapore; the role involves physical data center access, regional and international travel across Asia, and flexible hours including nights and weekends when required.

What you will do

• Gather requirements, install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, network equipment, and other physical infrastructure in data centers.
• Coordinate with local, remote, and global data center teams to resolve technical issues and manage connectivity.
• Support the lifecycle of physical infrastructure, including hardware faults, supplier RMAs, equipment orders, returns, shipments, and inventory.
• Monitor technical project progress, track deliverables, and maintain documentation for physical infrastructure and operating processes.
• Automate routine operational tasks and suggest improvements to data center processes and best practices.
• Keep data centers and shared spaces clean, organized, and properly stocked.

Requirements

• Fluent English and Mandarin with strong communication skills.
• Understanding of data center layouts, including power, cooling, and cabling.
• Basic networking and systems knowledge, including circuits, IP routing, consoles, and networking concepts.
• Basic Linux knowledge and hands-on familiarity with SSH, NFS, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP.
• Experience making and running Cat5e patch cables and inspecting, cleaning, and testing fiber optic cables.
• Ability to travel across Asia, work flexible hours when required, and lift up to 60 pounds.

Nice to have

• Basic shell scripting or cloud exposure.
• Basic knowledge of Cisco systems.
• Technical inventory management experience.
