Supplier Quality Engineer – Plastics, China

Location: Guangzhou, China; regular travel within China and occasional international travel is required for supplier audits and site support.

What you will do

• Lead qualification of injection-molding and extrusion suppliers, including quality-system audits and process-capability assessments.
• Review and approve PPAP and FAI submissions, dimensional reports, material certifications, Cpk/Ppk studies, and control plans.
• Drive root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for warpage, shrinkage, flash, short-shots, sink marks, and other dimensional or cosmetic defects.
• Conduct supplier process reviews covering molding floors, tooling shops, resin handling, drying, and applicable cleanroom operations.
• Support supplier selection, tooling readiness, engineering changes, NPI builds, DFM/DFA reviews, and mold-flow analysis.
• Manage supplier scorecards, quarterly business reviews, non-conforming material dispositions, and continuous-improvement plans.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, Polymer, Materials Science, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of supplier quality engineering experience focused on injection-molded or extruded plastic components.
• Hands-on knowledge of injection molding, extrusion, mold tooling, engineering thermoplastics, PPAP/FAI, Cpk/Ppk, GD&T, dimensional inspection, and control plans.
• Quality-audit experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or ISO 13485; knowledge of 8D, 5-why, fishbone, FMEA, and corrective action methods.
• Fluent Mandarin and English are required for direct technical work with China-based molders and tooling shops.
• Willingness to travel within China and occasionally internationally; proficiency with Microsoft Office is required, while Minitab and SAP/QMS knowledge is preferred.

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience in life science, medical device, or diagnostics industries and regulated-product plastics quality management.
