Backend Software Engineer (TypeScript)

Location: Remote within the United States, except Hawaii

Salary: $160,000–$180,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Design and build TypeScript backend services for real-time and asynchronous risk decisioning.
• Build and maintain event-driven workflows using message queues, pub/sub, and cloud task infrastructure.
• Design and implement state machines for multi-step decisioning and identity verification flows.
• Collaborate with product, operations, and infrastructure teams to build and scale backend services.
• Own small- to medium-sized projects from design through production, including code reviews and technical direction.
• Mentor engineers and pair regularly with teammates.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture, message queues, pub/sub, or similar systems.
• Experience with cloud task or job scheduling systems such as Cloud Tasks, SQS, or Celery.
• Experience designing or implementing state machines for multi-step workflows.
• Strong programming experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, Node.js, MySQL, and Google Cloud Platform, or comparable experience with Java, Python, C, C++, or Go.
