Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Regular hands-on work in a cleanroom is required, including lifting 25 lbs and standing, bending, and stooping while working with flight hardware.
Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, with potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing systems, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses, with vehicles and equipment built, integrated, and tested in-house.
What you will do
- Own assigned payloads from initial mission scoping through post-flight data delivery, including in-house pharmaceutical payloads and hosted customer payloads.
- Derive mission requirements, define payload-to-vehicle interfaces, and manage formal interface control documents.
- Develop project plans for ambiguous missions and coordinate vehicle modifications or non-standard payload accommodations.
- Plan and execute incoming inspections, functional checkouts, vibration, EMI/EMC, TVAC, leak, and pharmaceutical process testing.
- Define payload flight operations, command sequences, and procedures with mission operations engineers, supporting console operations as needed.
- Resolve integration and test issues, improve standard payload interfaces and workflows, and mentor earlier-career engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, chemical, systems engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience integrating and testing spacecraft, payloads, or comparably complex electromechanical hardware.
- Experience serving as the responsible engineer for a payload or comparable hardware element through a complete program cycle, including flight or equivalent end use.
- Experience managing requirements, interface control documents, and verification and validation plans across multiple concurrent hardware efforts.
- Technical knowledge in at least two areas such as structures, thermal management, electronics, embedded software, optics, RF, GNC, communications, or fluid systems.
- Must be a U.S. person authorized to work in the United States and permitted to access export-controlled technology without an export license.
Nice to have
- Experience integrating hosted or customer-furnished payloads onto spacecraft or launch vehicles.
- Hands-on aerospace environmental testing experience and familiarity with standards such as GSFC-STD-7000 and SMC-S-016.
- Experience coordinating interfaces and joint execution with external partners or customers.
- Exposure to pharmaceutical, biomedical, or other regulated-industry hardware and quality practices.
