TL;DR
Systems Engineer, Space Infrastructure (Aerospace): Defining and analyzing end-to-end space system architectures, technical budgets, requirements, and verification strategies with an accent on subsystem integration, technical trade studies, and lifecycle execution. Focus on managing system margins and interfaces, driving requirements traceability and verification closure, and resolving complex system-level risks across engineering teams.

Location: Tempe, Arizona, United States. A valid work permit or visa for the country of employment is required.

Salary: $180,500–$285,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area, the range is $224,500–$336,500 annually.

What you will do

  • Own end-to-end space system technical budgets covering mass, power, data, performance, margins, and system constraints.
  • Define space system architectures and lead technical trade studies and design decisions.
  • Develop and maintain system-level requirements, specifications, and technical artifacts.
  • Drive requirements decomposition, allocation, traceability, and burndown across subsystems.
  • Lead lifecycle reviews, verification and validation strategy, risk management, and system-level issue resolution.
  • Mentor systems engineers and improve systems engineering practices and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience supporting complex space or aerospace systems.
  • Experience owning space system technical budgets and analyses.
  • Expertise in writing and controlling system-level requirements and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes across the full development lifecycle.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, including senior-level design and risk discussions.

Nice to have

  • Deep experience with space system architectures and subsystem integration.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering and requirements management tools.
  • Background in high-reliability, mission-critical system development.
  • Ability to balance technical rigor with programmatic constraints.
