TL;DR
Director, Legal (Procurement and Strategic Sourcing) (AI): Leading legal support for the technology supply chain behind an AI cloud, including high-value hardware, software, OEM, reseller, and strategic sourcing agreements with an accent on allocation, delivery, warranties, liability, and trade compliance. Focus on negotiating complex procurement contracts, advising infrastructure and finance leadership, managing supplier disputes, and building procurement legal processes and teams.

Location: New York, San Francisco, Seattle, US

Base salary: $210,000–$340,000 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and/or commission programs.

What you will do

  • Lead drafting and negotiation of high-value hardware procurement agreements covering GPUs, servers, networking, storage, OEMs, resellers, and distributors.
  • Negotiate pricing, prepayment, allocation, delivery, acceptance, warranties, RMA and spares, service levels, indemnities, and liability terms.
  • Draft and negotiate software, firmware, SaaS, support, maintenance, professional services, and systems integration agreements.
  • Advise infrastructure, cloud, procurement, finance, and commercial leadership on supplier disputes, shortages, force majeure, contract performance, and supply-chain risks.
  • Coordinate with export controls counsel on sanctions, customs, tariffs, country-of-origin, component sourcing, and supplier flow-down requirements.
  • Build the procurement legal function by mentoring legal professionals and developing templates, playbooks, approval matrices, and contract lifecycle processes.

Requirements

  • JD from an accredited US law school and active membership in good standing of at least one US state bar.
  • 8–12 years of legal experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house, with significant technology procurement and supply agreement experience.
  • Substantial experience negotiating hardware, software, and networking agreements for components such as GPUs, servers, switches, optics, cabling, storage, firmware, or related infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of allocation, lead times, warranties, RMA models, supplier financing, and prepayment structures.
  • Familiarity with export controls, sanctions, and trade compliance for advanced computing.
  • Experience leading or mentoring lawyers and non-lawyer professionals, with strong negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • In-house experience at a hyperscaler, neocloud, OEM, semiconductor company, or data center operator.
  • Experience with large-scale capital equipment procurement, including power and cooling equipment.
  • Familiarity with multi-jurisdictional supply arrangements.
