Appian Integration Engineer

Location: Remote within the United States only; candidates must reside and work in the U.S. and support US Eastern time zone working hours. A Public Trust background check and US Citizenship are required.

What you will do

• Design and build inbound and outbound Appian integrations using Connected Systems, Integration objects, Web APIs, and synced record types.
• Integrate Appian with REST and SOAP services using API keys, OAuth 2.0, and service accounts.
• Establish incremental synchronization, idempotent upserts, retry and back-off, correlation IDs, reconciliation queues, and audit logging.
• Lead data profiling, mapping, transformation, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and cutover from a legacy .NET/SQL Server application.
• Migrate legacy operational reports to Power BI and implement monitoring, data-quality checks, and integration traceability.
• Contribute to DevSecOps pipelines, automated testing, performance tuning, and Agile collaboration with technical and government stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of experience designing, building, and operating system integrations and APIs.
• Residence in the U.S., authorization to work in the U.S., and three full years lived in the U.S. during the last five years.
• US Citizenship and ability to pass a Public Trust background check.
• Hands-on experience building Appian integrations or Web APIs in at least one delivered project.
• Strong SQL skills and experience migrating data from relational systems, including mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with API authentication, error handling, monitoring, and REST/SOAP services.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, .NET modernization or decommissioning, federal HR systems, and Power BI.
• Knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger, API gateways, OAuth 2.0, key management, and mTLS.
• Scripting or programming experience with Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, JMeter, Splunk, FedRAMP, GovCloud, and federal ATO processes.
• Appian, AWS, or Azure certifications and experience in Agile delivery teams.
