Software Engineer (Testing Infrastructure)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Montreal, New York, Seattle, or Toronto

Salary: $165,000–$330,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Define and own the organization-wide testing strategy, standards, tiers, and tooling.
• Build unit, integration, load, performance, resilience, and chaos testing frameworks.
• Design test infrastructure that provisions ephemeral Kubernetes namespaces and containerized dependencies.
• Implement fault injection, network failure simulation, dependency degradation scenarios, and automated recovery verification.
• Improve test reliability and CI performance through flake management, test impact analysis, selective execution, and parallelization.
• Build test observability, shared libraries, service templates, dashboards, and developer feedback loops while mentoring engineering teams.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Go and/or Python, with experience building test tooling and libraries for other engineers.
• Deep knowledge of testing framework internals, including pytest, Go's testing package, testify, testcontainers, or equivalent tools.
• Experience designing integration test infrastructure for distributed systems, including ephemeral environments and dependency management.
• Practical experience with load and performance testing tools such as k6, Locust, Vegeta, JMeter, or Gatling.
• Solid Kubernetes and Docker fundamentals, plus advanced CI/CD knowledge for maintaining fast, deterministic, and trustworthy test suites.
• Experience improving testing culture and working independently on ambiguous, high-impact infrastructure challenges.
