Data Engineer (AWS)

Salary: $118,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Define and own data architecture for internally developed applications and business intelligence solutions.
• Design scalable relational and dimensional data models, database schemas, and migration roadmaps toward potential data warehouse environments.
• Build, test, document, and monitor batch and event-driven data pipelines using SQL, PostgreSQL, Python, and approved platform technologies.
• Partner with the Integrations Engineer on data contracts, source-of-truth ownership, integration patterns, and schema-change practices.
• Establish standards for query performance, data lineage, metadata, security, retention, backup, recovery, and database change management.
• Advise product owners, program managers, developers, and technology leaders on data-platform decisions and improve reporting and self-service analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, data architecture, business intelligence engineering, or a related discipline.
• Advanced experience with relational data modeling and complex SQL development, review, and performance tuning for production workloads.
• Strong experience with Python or a comparable programming language for pipelines, automation, validation, and operational tooling.
• Strong PostgreSQL and relational database architecture experience, with knowledge of ETL/ELT, data warehousing, data marts, and distributed systems.
• Experience designing data solutions on AWS and communicating architectural tradeoffs to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL Server, Amazon Redshift, or comparable analytical platforms.
• Valid driver’s license, where required by business needs.
