Software Engineer I (Embedded Linux)

Location: On-site in Blauvelt, New York, Monday–Friday, at a manufacturing facility. Work may require presence on the manufacturing floor, personal protective equipment, and up to 5% travel.

Salary: $88,000–$95,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain C++20 and Qt 6 applications for ARM-based embedded Linux controllers.
• Implement features and resolve defects across user interfaces, control logic, firmware, and I/O handling.
• Integrate communications over Modbus, BACnet, RS-485/RS-232, CAN bus, and Ethernet.
• Build and cross-compile firmware with CMake and Yocto, deploy software to target hardware, and debug on device.
• Develop unit tests, documentation, and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and packaging.
• Collaborate with Controls, Hardware, QA, and Product teams on new product development from concept through acceptance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• At least 1 year of production-level C++ development experience; C++17 or newer is preferred.
• Experience developing software in a Linux desktop environment and using Git and GitHub.
• Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, CAN bus, Ethernet/IP, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, MQTT, or cellular communications.
• Familiarity with schematic design and PCB layout, strong interpersonal skills, and knowledge of applicable safety practices.
• Successful employment eligibility verification, background checks, drug screening, and required pre-employment testing are required.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of C++ development experience and experience with Qt GUI development.
• Experience with C++20, Jenkins, Qt Test, GoogleTest, Doxygen, and clang-format.
• Experience developing user-space C++ applications for ARM-based embedded Linux platforms.
• Experience building and deploying Yocto-based images with Jenkins.
• Experience with AI agents or LLMs for code generation, review, and productivity tooling.
