Senior Software Engineer (SQL Server)

Location: Arizona, United States; the role requires two annual trips to the corporate office in Scottsdale, Arizona, plus quarterly one-day events.

Salary: $125,000–$150,000 per year, with eligibility for a bonus or merit program.

What you will do

• Maintain and improve complex stored procedures that build data warehouse tables.
• Optimize SQL Server performance for datasets exceeding 300 million rows through indexing, query tuning, execution plan analysis, and partitioning.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server Agent jobs, including scheduling, retries, dependencies, and failure analysis.
• Analyze telematics and safety data to identify patterns, metrics, data-quality issues, and actionable customer insights.
• Maintain SQL source control with Git, use Azure DevOps in two-week Agile sprints, and support SQL Server administration.
• Integrate external APIs and make targeted improvements to web, console, API, C#/.NET, and React solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of production experience focused primarily on T-SQL and SQL Server.
• 3+ years of C# experience and 1+ year of .NET 6+ experience.
• Strong experience with data warehousing, stored procedures, database tuning, SQL Server Agent jobs, administration, backups, and recovery.
• Experience supporting production SQL Server environments with datasets exceeding 300 million rows across multiple databases and servers.
• Experience with Database Projects, DACPACs, SQL source control and deployment, Git, and Azure DevOps.
• Ability to independently investigate ambiguous problems, communicate findings clearly, and work with complex telematics, CAN bus, or similar data.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, or GitHub Copilot.
• React experience.
• Exposure to big data or large language models.
• Limited SSIS and SSRS experience.
