Settlement Department Team Lead

Location: Miami, United States. This is an in-office role Monday through Friday; employment requires authorization to work in the United States.

Salary: USD 60,000–98,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Lead, hire, onboard, train, coach, and manage a large settlement negotiator and support team.
• Set and monitor department KPIs covering settlement volume, settlement value, client recovery, file velocity, aged inventory, demand turnaround, and productivity.
• Review valuations, demand packages, settlement authority requests, and counteroffers, serving as the final internal authority within approval limits.
• Handle or co-handle high-exposure negotiations and identify bad-faith, policy-limits, UM/UIM, and coverage issues.
• Maintain and improve SOPs, checklists, templates, stage definitions, reporting, and workflow systems.
• Coordinate with medical management, intake, case management, litigation, and clients to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely resolutions.

Requirements

• At least five people managed in previous roles and three or more years directly managing a settlement, pre-litigation, or case management team.
• Three to five years of progressive personal injury experience, including substantial pre-suit settlement and negotiation work.
• Strong command of case valuation, medical specials, treatment trajectories, procedure-level valuation, comparative fault, coverage layers, and venue analysis.
• Working knowledge of Florida personal injury practice, including PIP, statutory pre-suit requirements, damages, and fee rules.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, written and spoken, is essential.
• Comfort with case management systems, reports, spreadsheets, performance metrics, and pipeline analysis.
