Intermediate Field Operations Engineer (IoT)

Location: On-site at the Auckland HQ, New Zealand. Full-time role with rostered on-call coverage, including weekend rotations.

What you will do

• Monitor fleet performance metrics to identify collar and tower issues proactively.
• Investigate technical support tickets, lead incidents from triage through root cause analysis and resolution, and escalate issues when required.
• Coordinate with Customer Experience, Deployment, Field Engineering, Product, and Software teams on incidents and follow-up actions.
• Build internal tools, dashboards, automations, alerting logic, and trend analysis systems for fleet monitoring and incident response.
• Improve triage pathways, escalation rules, investigation checklists, documentation, and operational workflows to reduce time-to-resolution.
• Visit customer farms when useful to resolve hardware issues alongside field-based teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in technical operations, support engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, prioritisation, and communication skills.
• Confidence working with dashboards, tools, workflows, logs, APIs, and operational data.
• Experience building reliable tools or automations and designing scalable workflows.
• Ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences and work effectively in a fast-changing environment.
• Interest in supporting farmers and ranchers and contributing to more sustainable farming operations.

Nice to have

• Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Experience with React or React Native, REST APIs, distributed systems, event-driven services, relational and non-relational databases, Node, Kotlin, Go, or hardware and IoT integrations.
