Staff Quality Engineer (Mobile)

What you will do

• Own and evolve the mobile test strategy for the React Native application, balancing E2E, unit, component, and integration coverage.
• Build test frameworks, CI tooling, helper scripts, reliable test environments, and data fixtures.
• Improve E2E automation by reducing flakiness, shortening diagnosis time, and addressing root causes.
• Use AI tools and agents for test authoring, exploratory testing, failure triage, coverage analysis, and proposed fixes.
• Partner with product and engineering teams on shift-left quality, acceptance criteria, exploratory testing, and production issue analysis.
• Define performance benchmarks and Service Level Objectives, using Datadog, Sentry, and Grafana to connect quality metrics to customer impact.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Maestro or Detox and at least 5 years of quality engineering or test automation experience.
• Strong coding experience with test code, frameworks, CI pipelines, helper scripts, API testing, and contract testing.
• Experience improving quality across multiple product teams in a scaled engineering environment.
• Experience with test data and environment strategy, SLOs, CI/CD reliability, flakiness reduction, parallelisation, artefact management, and runtime control.
• Experience using AI meaningfully in test authoring, failure triage, or coverage analysis while applying engineering judgement.
• Ability to coach other disciplines, communicate clearly, work independently, and demonstrate measurable quality improvements.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience testing React Native applications.
• Mobile performance and reliability experience, including crash reporting, startup time, memory, and battery awareness.
• Additional API and contract testing experience with a clear approach to test data and environments.
