TL;DR
Postdoctoral Research Associate in Digital Design (FPGA): Designing next-generation vision processor hardware for near-sensor edge computing, including FPGA-based digital systems, RTL processor architectures, and hardware-software co-design with an accent on parallel architectures and high-speed sensor integration. Focus on modelling and implementing novel processor arrays, exploring future ASIC implementations, and building practical computer vision technology demonstrations.

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid working arrangements may be considered.

Company

The hirify.global hosts a long-standing research programme on vision sensors and SIMD processor arrays in collaboration with Imperial College London, the University of Bristol, and industrial partners.

What you will do

  • Lead the design of next-generation vision processor hardware for advanced edge computing.
  • Explore near-sensor integration of novel computer architectures.
  • Model systems and implement digital systems using FPGAs, with potential future ASIC implementation.
  • Design parallel processor architectures at the RTL level using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • Develop hardware-software co-design solutions and interface with high-speed sensors.
  • Build practical technology demonstrations for on-sensor computer vision.

Requirements

  • Experience with digital system design and FPGA implementation.
  • Ability to design RTL-level processor architectures using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • Ability to work on system modelling, hardware-software co-design, and high-speed sensor interfaces.

Culture & Benefits

  • Research is embedded in an EPSRC-funded project on on-sensor computer vision.
  • Collaboration with Imperial College London, the University of Bristol, and industrial partners.
  • Hybrid working arrangements may be considered.
  • The University is an equal opportunities employer and makes appointments on merit.
