Salary: $144,000–$180,000 base pay per year

What you will do
- Perform structural trade studies, derive requirements, and establish vehicle configurations.
- Complete hand calculations and FEM analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures.
- Perform static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage-tolerance analysis for design, fabrication, testing, and structural integrity activities.
- Develop standards for model creation, strength checks, analysis reports, and engineering documentation.
- Support structural testing, analyze test results, and verify compliance with requirements.
- Mentor designers and junior structural analysts while providing technical guidance on design trade-offs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle, or powertrain structures.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience analyzing metallic and/or composite structures for stress, fatigue, or damage tolerance.
- Experience combining classical hand calculations with finite element analysis and developing free-body diagrams for load derivation.
- Proficiency with one or more analysis codes: Nastran, OptiStruct, Ansys, Abaqus, or LS-DYNA.
- Strong understanding of FEM modeling techniques, including boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, and verification methods.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of FAA Part 23 or Part 27 aircraft certification requirements.
- Experience with development or qualification testing.
- Familiarity with Bruhn, Niu, or Roark aerospace sizing methods.
- Experience automating analysis processes with MATLAB or Python.
