What you will do

• Perform trade studies and requirements derivation to establish overall vehicle configuration.
• Conduct hand calculations and FEM analysis for primary and secondary aerospace structures.
• Develop company standards for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generation.
• Write detailed structural substantiation reports to obtain FAA airworthiness approvals.
• Mentor designers and junior analysts in stress, stability, and fracture analysis best practices.
• Support test execution and analyze results to validate designs against requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle, or powertrain structures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (M.S. preferred).
• Proven experience with stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis on metallic and composite structures.
• Proficiency in analysis codes such as Nastran, Optistruct, Ansys, Abaqus, or LS-Dyna.
• Strong understanding of FEM modeling techniques and fatigue/fracture (AFGRO/NASGRO).
• Must be authorized to work in the US; company is unable to provide work visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of FAA aircraft certification requirements for Part 23 / Part 27.
• Experience with development and qualification testing.
• Familiarity with classical aerospace sizing methods (e.g., Bruhn, Niu, Roark).
• Process automation experience using Matlab or Python.
