TL;DR
Data Integration Engineer (AI): Building and operating robust pipelines that transform and exchange data between internal event-based systems and third-party APIs, webhooks, and partner platforms with an accent on schema mapping, data quality, and resilient integrations. Focus on designing retry mechanisms, managing complex backfills and Go-Live pipelines, and scaling tooling for monitoring and non-engineer configuration.
Location: United States or Canada; fully remote

What you will do
- Design, build, and operate integration pipelines for third-party APIs, webhooks, and custom endpoints.
- Transform, normalize, validate, and map JSON/XML payloads between internal schemas and external partner specifications.
- Manage customer rollout backfills, Go-Live integration pipelines, and third-party data anomaly resolution.
- Handle rate limits, failures, edge cases, retries, dead-letter flows, and idempotency at scale.
- Build tooling that enables non-engineering users to configure, monitor, and backfill integrations.
- Document API specifications, support Agile delivery, collaborate across teams, and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in software, backend, or data engineering.
- Hands-on experience building and operating REST API, webhook, and third-party platform integrations.
- Strong Python and SQL skills for data transformation and integration pipelines.
- Experience with complex schema mapping, payload normalization, data validation, and operational failure handling.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation, ADRs, or API specifications.
- Must be located in the United States or Canada.
Nice to have
- Experience with dbt, PySpark, Airflow, Terraform, AWS Athena, RDS, or EKS.
- Experience with electronic health records, HIPAA, HL7 data feeds, or the FHIR API specification.
- Experience working in remote, distributed, and async-first engineering teams.
