Senior Data Engineer (Analytics)

Location: Remote - US; work from anywhere in the US

What you will do

• Lead discovery with finance, operations, and client-facing stakeholders, translating business needs into acceptance criteria and measurable definitions.
• Model complex healthcare operational data into certified dimensional models across Databricks bronze, silver, and gold layers using dbt and SQL.
• Define and govern shared business metrics through a centralized semantic layer and clear documentation.
• Build and maintain Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and paginated reports, including refresh health and model currency.
• Own model observability, including freshness, latency, anomaly, value-drift, data-quality, regression, and CI checks.
• Design dbt Cloud jobs and Airflow DAGs, document solutions, and automate recurring work with AI-assisted workflows.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience across analytics engineering, BI engineering, data engineering, or business analysis with production ownership of models and metrics.
• Expert SQL, strong dimensional modeling skills, and production experience with dbt models, tests, macros, exposures, documentation, and CI.
• Experience with a cloud lakehouse or warehouse; Databricks and Spark SQL are preferred, with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift also relevant.
• Experience owning a BI semantic layer and reports; Power BI and DAX are strongly preferred.
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders, reconcile conflicting numbers, document decisions, and communicate business risk.
• Experience with Git, pull requests, Python, and autonomous work in a fast, asynchronous environment.

Nice to have

• Healthcare data experience, including claims, DRG and coding review, payment integrity, provider contracts, or revenue cycle.
• Experience with data contracts, schema enforcement, ODCS-style governance, or CI quality gates.
• Databricks Unity Catalog, lineage, cost and DBU accountability, or paginated reporting experience.
• Experience working with AI coding agents and reviewing their output against defined contracts.
