Senior Process Utilities Engineer

Location: Kansas City, Missouri, USA; hybrid work with three days per week in the office

What you will do

• Lead process utilities design efforts and manage budgets across projects ranging from simple to highly complex.
• Coordinate proposals, staffing plans, schedules, clients, internal teams, vendors, and external partners.
• Review technical documents for quality and compliance with industry standards.
• Direct and mentor engineering support staff across multiple projects and deliver internal training.
• Develop utility room layouts, pipe routing, space plans, capacity plans, and expansion strategies.
• Lead vendor package management, HAZOP and HCCP risk assessments, 3D model reviews, site walkdowns, field reporting, commissioning, and startup support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 15 years of experience for Senior-level candidates.
• Experience in design firms, operating companies, or construction environments.
• Deep knowledge of industry codes, regulatory guidance, and local building standards.
• Strong leadership, communication, project coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with three office days per week in Kansas City, Missouri.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Experience with diverse facility types and systems in the life sciences sector.
• Established technical network of clients, vendors, and trade partners.
• Experience leading large or complex technical projects.
